Pattern formation in slot-die coating

چکیده

We experimentally study the occurrence of pattern formation during slot-die coating partially wetting liquids onto polyethylenterephthalat-substrates outside window. The experimental investigation is supported by numerical simulations a dynamical model. Our results demonstrate that beyond critical speed, deposition homogeneous layers undergoes an instability resulting in self-organized emergence patterned coatings, i.e., stripes different orientation and droplet patterns. investigate transitions between patterns as triggered changes control parameters inherent to coating, e.g., liquid viscosity gap height. relatively simple theoretical approach based on lubrication theory. It already able reproduce most observed reveals wettability-driven mechanism.
